Job Purpose:

  • A Static Equipment Engineer plays a crucial role in the design, selection, installation, operation, and maintenance of stationary or static equipment used in industrial facilities, such as refineries, chemical plants, power plants, and manufacturing facilities. Static equipment includes pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, storage tanks, and piping systems. This engineering role requires expertise in mechanical design, materials selection, code compliance, and safety regulations to ensure reliable and efficient operation of static equipment.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design and Specification: Develop detailed design specifications, calculations, and drawings for static equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes (e.g., ASME, API), and regulatory requirements.
  • Material Selection: Specify appropriate materials for static equipment based on factors such as pressure, temperature, corrosion resistance, and environmental conditions to ensure long-term structural integrity and reliability.
  • Technical Evaluation: Conduct technical evaluations and feasibility studies for the selection and procurement of static equipment, considering factors such as performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Codes and Standards Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and regulations governing the design, fabrication, and inspection of static equipment to guarantee safety and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Equipment Sizing and Rating: Perform sizing, rating, and performance calculations for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other static equipment to meet process requirements and operational efficiency.
  • Failure Analysis and Risk Assessment: Conduct failure mode analysis, risk assessments, and fitness-for-service evaluations to identify potential failure mechanisms, assess equipment integrity, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to multidisciplinary teams, including process engineers, project managers, and maintenance personnel, to address static equipment-related issues and optimize operation and maintenance practices.
  • Inspection and Testing: Coordinate and participate in non-destructive testing (NDT) activities, inspection programs, and reliability assessments of static equipment to ensure compliance with inspection and maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Investigate and troubleshoot operational issues related to static equipment, develop maintenance strategies, and recommend corrective actions to enhance reliability and operational safety.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including equipment specifications, drawings, maintenance records, and inspection reports, to ensure accurate and up-to-date records for regulatory compliance and historical reference.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field with a focus on static equipment design and analysis.
  • Relevant 10+ experience in the design, analysis, and operation of static equipment in industrial settings, with a strong understanding of industry best practices and standards.
  • Code Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards, such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, API standards, and other applicable regulations related to pressure equipment and piping systems.
  • Design Software Proficiency: Proficiency in using engineering design software, such as PV Elite, Compress, AutoCAD, and finite element analysis (FEA) tools, to perform design calculations and create technical drawings.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess equipment performance, apply engineering principles, and resolve technical challenges related to static equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Understanding of safety principles, risk management practices, and regulatory requirements related to the operation and maintenance of pressure equipment and piping systems.

We are proud to be a diverse and an equal opportunity employer. We are fully committed to a culture of respect and inclusion.
